Dolphin Project

Materials: You will need a pile of mosaic tiles, some TonerTex foil, and a Magic Motif. You will also need a card, and some mount board, low-tack tape (such as Scotch Magic), and double sided tape. A burnisher. Glue. Tweezers. Step 1: Start by making a work board. Cut a piece of mount board slightly larger than the card you are planning. Put a strip of double sided tape down each side. Now stick low-tack tape sticky-side up to the double-sided tape

Step 2: Randomly pick up tiles of different shades and place them on the low-tack tape. This holds them still to work with.

Step 3: Use any magic motif (in this case a dolphin). Step 4: Use a burnisher to rub the back of the motif to transfer it to the tiles and remove backing paper.

Step 5: Place foil over motif and again use a burnisher to rub over the motif area. Step 6: Gently peel back the foil. (If you missed an area then it can have more foil applied later).
In this case different colours of foil were applied to different sections of the design at stage 6, so that the dolphin and water are distinguished. Step 7: Take a piece of backing card, and transfer the tiles one at a time. Glue the tiles one at a time, leaving a small gap (a pair of tweezers reduce the chance of knocking one of the pieces you have already placed) and can help with spacing.
Step 8: Once all the tiles are in place cut the backing piece to size. Step 9: Attach the piece to a folded card for your completed greetings card.
